Update

The United States Marine Corps has decided on a new camouflage uniform. The unique digital woodland uniform will definitely make the Marines stand out, but not in the field. By the year 2005, all marines will be required to own only the new utilities. Sergeants at both Camp Pendleton, CA and Camp LeJune, NC were the first to have an opportunity to purchase the new utilities.

Most Marines the author has spoken to like the new utilities, although some doubt the Marine Corps will be able to keep this uniform all to themselves. One Marine noted that if the pattern blended as well as it is predicted to, then the Army and other military forces are likely to lobby to gain access to the pattern, patented or not. "If it enables the wearer greater protection against detection,  that may decrease the chance of injury. If that is the case, everyone will want this [new uniform]."
